Companies are turning to different methods of advertising than they have used in the past. Previously, advertising on television, radio, and in print ads were enough. Now, however, with the change in the economy and attitudes, many companies are getting more involved in social advertising. Often there are those who assume that because a service company, for example, can afford to advertise on television or radio it is too expensive for them to work with. Instead they turn to a friend or neighbor to find out what company they use for their various household needs. This is a form of social marketing. Generally speaking, it is even free marketing. And it is the most powerful kind of marketing. Social marketing is a lot like that. And while it is still a relatively new field, there are many reasons why it is growing as it does.
Social advertising is found to be a more effective method of advertising for many companies because it comes across as a referral from a friend, or someone the consumer trusts. That is why many companies see the value in working with Facebook to create fan pages and to hold contests and get people active and involved through social media marketing options. This is the same reason that many companies have turned to Twitter and are engaging in social ads and sponsored tweets. And it is the same reason that many companies are turning to these other options and steering clear of pay-per-click advertising options. They have a very low click through rate and they aren’t nearly as effective.
These companies recognize the power of working with bloggers and others who have the ability to spread their message to a network of friends and acquaintances. Even more, they realize that people are more likely to take action based on the word of these individuals who are involved in social advertising. These individuals have worked hard to build a platform for their message and companies are taking advantage of their efforts.
For many companies, using social advertising is far more cost effective than the money they previously would have spent on other methods of advertising. Hiring a blogger to write a sponsored post is cheaper than placing an ad in a magazine. Having a sponsored tweet go out to a person’s network is far more cost effective than spending money on Google Ad Words or banner or text ads. More people are likely to click through and take action because of the relationship and trust that has been built. And this is why social advertising is a growing business.
