Of all the ways to express myself as a teen, the music industry was my form of expression. And I still thrive on the new music that arrives every year to express my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. While the music industry has evolved over the past thirty years, there are some things that have stayed the same: my desire to keep up with the top new music in 2012.
Most of you can understand my excitement. It seems like there is always some song coming out that just speaks to me in that moment. When I was struggling in my life, Darius Rucker put everything in perspective with his song ‘Alright.’ It was just what I needed to pick myself up, dust myself off, and start over. Then just as I was working through some relationship issues, Lady Antebellum came out with ‘I Run to You.’ And of course, Kenny Chesney will always have a special place in my heart because it was during his song ‘Don’t Blink’ that my now husband admitted he loved me.
Think of all the songs that have touched you through the years, or made your heart beat fast, or made you want to dance and sing and simply celebrate life. That’s what music does for us. And there are so many genres to touch our soul. There’s R&B, Hip Hop, Country, Pop, Rock, and more because of fusions. In short, there is something truly for every type of music lover out there.
There are constant changes to music, with new innovative singers, new beats, and new groups. And with new shows like X-Factor and American Idol churning out performers left and right, there is a constant influx of talent. The end result is that music doesn’t have a chance to get stale. There are so many options available that it is just exciting to see what cream is going to rise to the top the coming year of new music in 2012.
When it comes to options, it is truly boundless. We have some that are already wildly successful and now working on demonstration their staying power, like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift…though I do hate to link those two together. And there are those who have taken a break from the music industry, but now seem to be coming back strong, like LL Cool J and Eminem. 2012 promises to be an exciting year for new music.
